Hindu Rashtra, Hindu Civilization, Vedas and Ayurvedic Therapy were the topics in which Swami Vardanand Bharati was deeply interested. With a view to Support a person or institution working for a cause of nation, religion and promotion of culture Revered Appa planned ” Dasganu Award” in his own lifetime, in the year 1998. A person or institution is conferred with an award (puraskar ) in the loving memory Shri Dasganu Maharaj with a purpose to take cognizance of the devoted word and Selfless sacrifice, by making it public.

Every year the function is held at Damodar Ashram, the Ashram in Pandharpur, where Shri Dasganu Maharaj ultimately emmersed his being at the feet of Pandurang-the Universal Truth on Kartik Vadya Trayodashi. The initial cash prize of the award has been increased from Rs. 25,000/- to Rs 100,000/- and presented along with a Shawl, Shrifal and a memento.
